This topic is my less favorite subject, however I need to bring it up as when a member passes he will still be remembered here on BritBike forum.
When a member passes I wish not to keep sending out emails and other messages. There are several reasons for this and I think you understand this.
So what I do is rename the display name and add "R.I.P." after
then move the account to a group named "In remembrance" so I can filter it from active accounts.
I also deactivate all notifications to the account.
It all helps to keep a structure to the forum and the fact that we don't send out messages to accounts that will end up as non existing email addresses.
If it happen its likely to be handled as spam in the future.

So please help me with BritBike members that are not longer with us.
Here are the members that I have updated so far.
Please reply with names so I can make the list as accurate as possible.

Britbodger R.I.P. (# 103) Malcolm Dixson
Ben Strain R.I.P. (# 116)
BONZO R.I.P. (# 251) Craig Holder

GOLD S-TARvin R.I.P. (# 758) Tarvin Porter
Mike Carter R.I.P. (# 15)
Pete R - R.I.P. (# 7575)

Thanks, Morgan, that's a good thing to do.

Man, that's a lot of good guys gone, when you put it all together. And it's not going to get any better .....

Morgan, this is the most respectful moderation of any forum I have ever been a part of.

Thank you so much for this very wonderful courtesy.

There are many people who made perhaps thousands of posts, then vanished off the face of Britbike, and no one has heard of them since.

On the one hand, as I've mentioned before, this is not the Mafia - you ARE allowed to get tired of it and quit. Like "LJ" Swain - Britbikes were a hobby that he was very much into for some years, he had some beautiful bikes, went to all the UK rallies and even flew to the US to come to a rally at my house a few years back.

But now, he's into other things and completely out of Britbikes as far as anyone knows.

But there are others who dropped out, and no one knows anything about them. They COULD be gone from this world, but we'll never know unless someone comes across an obituary or something ....

Lannis, someone who comes by post 1000 post and goes away - that account will not be altered by me, who knows he might be back one of these days and will find its all the same.
No it's the deceased I mean and when it happen I wish to change their accounts so it will work properly for the future and so any other member can see the status.
So again this thread was created to catch passed BritBike members.

I totally agree - I was just saying that guys that "disappear" MIGHT be deceased, and unless we know the family, we won't know. Every once in a while, I'll query the nationwide obituaries just to see. Hope I don't find one but you never know .... !

...hello Morgan; Pete R is/was Peter Russell.

I am thinking that if I die soon nobody in internet or in English internet would be in the known (nor that anybody cares)
So, may be is more focused on the relevant people mostly from US and UK.

We'd CARE, for sure. But how would we KNOW? There's no one in your town (or country, probably) that would say "Hey, you remember old 'reverb'? Well, he was shot by a jealous husband who caught him in bed with his teenaged wife; and he was only 87 years old, too .... "!
