Cochise has a mirror on the correct side for Europe, so I'm reluctant to move it over to the Blighty side, I'd LOVE to get another to match it. So as it came from Mericky, just wondering if y'all over there know where I can get one to match from...?

I'm in touch with the previous owner, BUT, he's a tad slow on the buttons. And I'm wanting to get this thing up and out asap, just sent off all the paperwork for getting it on the road, and in the information they sent, it says, 4-6 weeks for it all to come back. SO the clock is ticking dudes, can y'all find me a mirror that I can match up BEFORE they send me the registration... wink

Here's a dodgy photo of the one I need to match up...

[Linked Image]image hosting 12mb

If that's no good, I CAN always pop out to the fettling shed and get some more... bigt

All help is gratefully received... grin

And YES I KNOW I can simply look over me shoulder, but I'm a Truck driver and I LIVE in me mirrors, and it's a habit hard to get out of... frown

Well, on the face of things, it looks like an ordinary truck mirror. Is the lens flat or convex? These mirrors are often available in stainless steel which would look nice with all that other shiny stuff on the motorcycle. I'll have a look around for a match.

Yes, I can locate something. But rather than just spew something out at you, I'll check around and find a good seller and good price. I will be able to find a matching mirror, but you might have to spray the brackets black, we''ll see.
Regards
Al

OK, well, the problem is of course shipping - and not finding the parts from the same source doubles the shipping. I found this, which looks very much like yours - but no mounting bracket:
https://www.eBay.com/itm/Dietz-5-Ro...39a9565fd:g:z8QAAOSweZJaMX7z&vxp=mtr
The next closest thing is made by Grote
[Linked Image]
I can get these from NAPA for $12.14. It looks like shipping is a bitch $30 to $40. Try eBay.uk and type in Grote 28033. There's a number of these for 15-20 GBP with free shipping from U.S.A. I think you should get two and have matching shiny stainless mirrors. No rust, no polishing - just wipe the bugs off after a ride.

Instead of trying to find one to match what you have, maybe buy two matching ones

You'll be one lucky duck if you find another exactly like that!

The "ditch that one and buy two alike" is the best advice, that one on there isn't an Indian item anyway? I'd just buy two old-looking-style ones that the Indian dudes buy today and bung 'em on ....

Lannis lad, seems to be horrendously expensive to get anything like that one I've got shipped over... frown

Shame cos I LOVE it, never seen anything like that on a bike before, suppose that's due to me never looking, or even thinking of fitting a truck mirror to a bike.. wink

Tom Bro Dude, if you can do that I'd appreciate it my man.. bigt

Shaun-a company called Grote makes one quite similar, part # 28162. Black powder coated, but the clamp is for a 3/4 inch diameter bar and it does not have the third bolt for holding the arm. Enough to get you going till the right one comes along??

http://www.grote.com/products/28032-5-round-clamp-on-spot-mirror-black-powder-coated-w-arm-assembly/

I sell these, so if you decide I would be happy to send one off.

Might take you up on that Mike G lad... bigt

I'll wait to see what Tom comes back with, so hang fire on that for a bit lad, in the meantime if you could find out how much to ship to the UK, and whatever else I need, that'll be great. If it's $40 to ship, best we forget it... frown

My understanding is that Indian provided their own mirrors, unlike other brands where often the mirrors were aftermarket items installed by the dealer. If I had just bought a beautiful Indian, formerly owned by a famous author, at what I am sure was not an insignificant price, and then paid to have it shipped overseas, I would not be screwing around with aftermarket truck mirrors, I would be in touch with Kiwi Motors, or Bob's Indian Sales or Jerry Greer and buying the mirrors that would have originally been supplied with the bike. I don't know that much about Indians, but the one on your bike looks like ones I have seen on other Indians. You may get lucky and only need to buy one.

Tom bro dude, don't forget to tell the lad at Bobs, THANKS for hooking me up, when we first started this adventure... bigt

And thanks to you too dude, while you're there could you find out if they have the Valve cover tool, they're like a pair of pilers, that fit around the valve covers, and have the tiny spines needed to fit the same on the covers. Always best to have the proper tools I feel... wink

A quick search of the US postal service website shows shipping at $35.25 crazy. Don't really see how the Royal Mail can get a package from SRM in Wales to me here in New Hampshire for much MUCH less than that and do it in half the time that our postal service shows. confused Last time I ordered from SRM it was on a Monday and the part was in hand on Friday for no more that a few dollars extra shipping. No wonder the USPS is going broke...nobody can afford to use them.

Dagnabit that's done it.... shocked

Tom bro dude, reminded me of a yarn about Bob's Indian in PA. And y'all know how I love a yarn, so he's off to buy me a pair of mirrors... grin

That yarn....?

Well, there we were mooching about with the lad, and he took us to the HD place in York, so I could leave a patch of BSA oil in the carpark... wink

Then we went to Bob's Indian cos I've loved them bikes for years, whilst there I buys me a tee shirt, just doing the tourist thang y'all understand... bigt

Goes to pay the lovel little old lady at the counter, and I notice her arm in a sling, she says to me. I fell over and broke it, its a real pain only having one arm, why is that m'am I ask trying to be as English and polite as possible, she says...I can't wipe my ass with the other... blush

So you see, I just GOT to have them mirrors now, don't I... grin

Yep, so Bob's Indian comes thru in spades... they had 4 (count em FOUR not 4 pair but 2 pair) OLD mirrors from the 1960s or 70s, complete with original boxes & handlebar clamps. Robin has em mounted up on most of the Indians in the showroom, so he's been using them for their own bikes.

HAD to go for these, they're just perfick. so now Shaun, lad, you have some gen-u-whine old-style bits direct from Bob's to me to you. And a story to go with.
AND you have one for the UK side and one for the EU side, so no matter where you go, you don't have to change the mirror up.
bigt

[Linked Image]

So there ya go my man, and...

-wait for it-

Bob's your uncle.

BTW I showed Robin a pic of your bike with that mirror on it and he said immediately (and I SWEAR I'm NOT making this up) : "that's not too far off from the old style Army mirrors they put on the military bikes, BUT these are the SAME AS ON THE UPS TRUCKS and you can probably get them from Grote" laughing
I just nodded and grinned.....

Robin walked me around back to the shop to show me some stuff on a Sport Scout motor so I could relay the info to Shaun and BOY would I ever like to get in there with a camera sometime!
