Hi

Looking for something to use for a park-off-ign-ign+lights switch. Ideally a circular aluminum plate, but happy with a decal also. Anyone have any suggestions

Cheers
Ray

Hi Ray,

I wait a couple of days after reading this originally, in case someone could respond more clearly.

Risking telling you something you might know already, switches of this format were used on '71/'72 Triumph and BSA triples and oif, '71-'75 Commandos (including the electric-start), T160's and '79-on Triumphs. I'm not aware of anything with the desired markings on any Triumph, so Commandos?

Regards,

An oversize disc (diameter of threaded portion of switch plus maybe 1 inch) could be cut from aluminum, with appropriate center hole hand shaped to match ignition switch, as many have a flat spot to prevent the switch from turning freely. For lettering the outer edge of disc, try searching for dry transfer lettering- often available in multi pack sheets with all letters of the alphabet; as well as in many different sizes. These dry letter transfers are often used in model railroading and by architects, so try hobby shops, model train shops, architectural supply and artist supply. Final step would be to carefully clear coat labelled disc.

There must be some Off/Flicker/Dim ones around, the MK3 Commando one is for a full console not just the switch.

Thanks for the responses guys.

On the ball Stuart. This is a T140 switch used on a Norton cafe project.

DSC thanks, that along the lines of my thoughts. Hadn't considered the 'letraset' type approach. Good suggestion. AS the clear-coat which I hadnt thought of.

Cheers Kommando. I'd thought about modifiying a T160 one , but it's not very detailed.

Not much out there as I suspected.

Definitely a DIY project. I need this as I found I had left the lights and ign on, thereby flattening the battery. They joys of getting old and sillier.

Cheers
Ray
