I've looked at the tutorials. I understand I need to get a third party platform of some sort.

Why do some pictures show directly in the post, recently even a video? Others are a link which must be followed, tedious and time consuming.

Some may be posting an [img] code that will post a photo and some may post a [url] code that posts a link to the site the photo is hosted.

Because, some of us set the post up that way using the Use Full Editor button which gives all the options to post links, pictures and videos directly into a post. It's ridiculously easy if one just takes a few moments to investigate and figure it out.

I've been having good success with a Hosting site called postimage.org. Supply email address and pw to register/login. Upload pics from your 'puter. After uploading, or if you click on an uploaded picture, you'll see a list of URLs. Click on the URL that's labeled "Hotlink for Forums". Right click, select "copy". Then "paste" into the forum thread.

Thank you Mark for the helpful reply, I'll have a look. I don't do social media and don't take many pictures either. Move from phone to pc is all I do. I did a search and saw Flicker, Photo Bucket, and a bunch of others, not quite as ridiculously simples as suggested for a new comer. Some charge a ton, others more reasonable, money I figure could go to parts. Others are free, but as we are learning free simply means our data is up for grabs. Ridiculously easy would be cut/ paste or drag/drop from folder to post. Apparently I have to have my own website just to post pictures. It probably will be easy once I investigate and figure it out.

Well Jon, seems to me these two statements are similar.

From Forum Help - How do I add an image to my message?
"In order to add an image to your message or your signature, you must have the image already available on a web server and reachable by a URL. "

From A65 Workshop manual
"To remove the trap, take out the end plug and the flywheel bold on the crankpin side and tap the sludge trap out."

Both sound simple, but when you get into it, not so much.

Hi Tracy,.. 1st, this topic of photo posting on this forum has been a constant issue. Sometimes because the Hosting sites (most recently PhotoBucket) can be messed up. Sometimes it's this site also, but Morgan does a super job keeping this site going for all of us sucking off it. SO, and it's not an advertisement or requirement, but if you haven't yet noticed, there is a more direct way to post photos that are stored on your computer. You can click on them, and drag them to a window, DONE! BUT,..... That is available to the folks that sign up to pay a small fee. It's not a racket, it's just costly to run a forum like this. So when you see that Premium Member thing by someone's name, like mine, it means they are supporting the forum. And for that, aside from the benefits found here, you also get to help others with photos easier. In my opinion, it's well worth it for the aggravation and blood pressure saved, and I'll tell you I was one of the Photobucket guys for years. Hope it helps explain.
OH,....... I better make this known also. So far, I have not been able to do all that stuff above using an iPad. Only on the PC. If you're an iPad only guy, that may queer the deal!!

KC Thank you for the explanation and especially for helping make all this possible. I'm in awe of how much history and knowledge many of the members possess and are willing to share.

This is the 69 Tbolt I've acquired.

I'm using Postimage.org. I selected 640 x 480 for message boards. Then when adding the pic choosing thumbnail for message boards.

Jon: You made my original pic of the head oil feed better, how'd you do that?

What is the optimal size?

Thanks

To get to the full page image go to your image on postimage and within the share button copy and paste the direct link, then create a post on the forum using full editor and click on the insert image icon and then paste into the box that opens.

Hi Tracy....... "KC Thank you for the explanation and especially for helping make all this possible".
I need to be sure you understand I am not the one to thank for this site. The THANKS! goes to Morgan and the various moderators that volunteer to monitor the different boards! I'm just another grateful guy like you enjoying the benefits ! You got it too work !

When I login to postimage, I leave the "don't resize my picture" option checked. Then I just select a picture, click on SHARE, and copy the URL labeled "Hotlink for Forums" - the pictures come out like this:

Postimage says this picture is 640 X 480.

Mark Z has it right. On Postimage use the forum link, not the thumbnail link.

Also, Postimage just recently had to change their link lettering from .org to .cc. As a result, existing image links from past posting will not result in seeing the image unless the lettering in the link is changed to the .cc. It's a real problem to remember where I've posted images to make the lettering change now that I'm not responsible for memory anymore.
