Trying to strip '74 cases for cleaning, but the oil pump will not come out. I,ve tried heat and worrying it but no movement.

Thought I check in here before I resort to force.

Any help?

Agreed...I think somebody said use the two longer bolts in the shorter holes or some such, or leave the gear on and lever either side....but go to TOL and read up.

Thanks for all that. But one issue is that there is only one long and three short screws as per the book.

All four "pump to crankcase" screws are "long".
The remaining two that hold the pump assembly together are the "short" screws (2").
