Hi I have a 1965 A65 Rocket that is fairly original. It has the very old style primary chaincase, part number 68-0240.

I've been offered a very late one, with the rotor inspection cover and the 2 Phillips screws for oil level and oil drain. It's part number is 71-1045.

Can anyone tell me whether or not it will fit?

Just by the way, the various old BSA parts manuals I have seem to list the following as other part number for this item

Approx 1966 68-0720
Approx 1967 68-837
Late, not sure when 70-9112.

Thanks very much for any help

Jon

Any cover will fit, but one thing to check, the covers became a bit bulgier in the clutch area at some point. When I fit a later cover on my bitsa (not sure what year the cover is from), the '66 footrest hit it when mounted. I can't say for sure that the footrest was never bent inward, but it did fit with the '66 primary cover. I solved the problem by having the footrest heated and re-shaped. I'd be interested in knowing if you run into this problem.
