Hello,

I'm working on installing a PM1R ignition on my DBD34 scrambler project. I need straps and I believe the correct parts are 65-1423 and 65-1425. Can anyone confirm these are the straps that will fit the DBD engine and BTH ignition?

Those are the straps that fit the KN1R which is a Lucas magneto. Gold Stars never used a BTH magneto except for two years, '49, '50, for their factory race bikes. The straps may be close, it just depends on how close the body of the BTH mag matches the KNR1. You may be able to massage the straps to make them fit.

Thanks Bill. This is a new BTH ignition, not the ignition from the 50's, which I hope are the same dimensions as a KNR1.

Looking at them online they look similar to the original BTH TT mags which are more squared off while the Lucas KNR1 was rounded. That's why I say you may need to masage those straps if you find them.

George: For reference the old BTH TT mag measures 9 1/2 inches from one side where it rests on the mag platform over the top to the other side. A Lucas KNC1 mag measures 9 11/16 inches for the same type measurement. You should be able to compare those numbers with your mag.

I do not have the strap part numbers handy but I know that I got some of the short straps from Haggis in the UK.

I was able to get the straps to fit after some massaging. Thanks for the help.
