One man’s adventure:

also the Gold Star story:

I’ve been to the IOM Manx 3 times. Expensive? Yes. Worthwhile? You bet! Do it ..
Best to visit on your bike, better yet on a Gold Star!

Yes Dave, been to the IOM many times, TTs and MGPs on 350 and 500 Goldies, and on one occasions a 900 SS Ducati. The first visit was the 1963 TT. At only eighteen years old I thought I had gone to the other side of the world. I witnessed what many consider to be the Golden era of the Sixties, and the highlight for me being the return of Mike Hailwood in 1978.
I have just finished reading the History off the Clubman's TT Races ( ISBN; 987-1-901508-10-9 ) A very comprehensive and interesting book, especially if interested in Goldstars.

Sitting on the deck with my mates after the ride up from Norfolk, (I think 1964) waiting to leave Liverpool, just after riding up the steep gangplank onto the ship from the floating dock with the RRT2 Box. The clutch was more likely to have required a drink than me. If it was low tide on arrival at the Island, the bikes were craned off in lots of three.
