I am trying to determine the model year on what I suspect to be a 1968 TR25W. I have a ton of sources for the twins but I can't find anything to help with a 250 single. Can anyone point me to a good source that will help?

Thanks,

Doc

Its a BSA go use this sites BSA dating info for the B25 but B25 becomes TR25W, if it does not have the 2 letters for the month/year eg BC or similar then its pre 69 model year.

FIRST, if it is a TR25W, it was made three years, 1968-1970.
If made in 1971, it will be a T25SS or a T25T.

SECOND: Engine serial number pad for 1968 will have NO "Triumph" logo small stamps.
It will be plain, with TR25 W XXXX ("X" simulating real numbers) stamped into it. NO YEAR LETTER CODE.

THIRD: For 1969, serial number pad will be numbered beginning with letters for month, then year.
Example: "EC 16468 TR25W," meaning bike was built in May ("E") and for 1969 model year ("C")

For 1970, code for model year will be "D"

For 1971, code for model year will be "E".

I hope this will be of help.

Thanks everyone, I used the BSA info and the bike is a 1968. This bike is going to be for sale, and we don't have a good idea of what to ask. It is part of the MotoTalbott Museum where I have been working recently and we just need to make some room for new arrivals. If anyone wants to see a photo of the bike and others in the collection, check out www.MotoTalbott.com. Better yet, stop by and see everything in person. We are in Carmel Valley, California on the Monterey Penninsula. It really is a great place, and if you come by on Friday or Sunday I will be your docent. Mention Britbike and get a discount on admission. At 175 motorcycles and growing, we are the largest motorcycle museum in the western US. Thanks again for the help.
