Steve,

The avatar can only be up to 100kb, if larger it cannot be uploaded.
the prefered avatar size is 160x160 pixels but if its larger then the system will reduce it to 160px.

So mthe main thing is that you need to keep under 100kb.

I will try for the future to get the developer to change this but for now max 100kb rules

good luck

if you loose the first and last image tag you get this result, some will see and some will not depending on browser used

I've tried before without success. Photobucket got greedy. This time I used "tinypic" but all that does is allow posting of a link, not the actual picture. Why on earth, in 2018, can't we simply cut and paste photos into a message. I can do this on my phone... How hard can it be???

Code is so last century.

same with our old bikes, how hard can it be to have them updated with all modern features?

Mebbo: You are a member with a basic free members account, as such members you can use the forum for free and you can link to images but you cannot store images on BritBikes server.
To store images you need to upgrade your basic membership to premium membership.
As a premium member you can upload 8mb images as attachments to your post. You can drag them if you like. see example below this text.

Mebbo, when we started with upgraded member accounts they were recurring subscriptions, some complained about that so I changed membership to non recurring.
So you need to renew by your self. You should receive an email or PM to renew next year.
Thanks for your support! smile

Morgan,

I just upgraded my membership and i'm trying to figure out how post photos (.jpg files). I've gotten as far as going to the attachment manager pop up window, added files, and hit the "done" button. At the bottom of the reply window in "full editor" mode, the attachment manager says I have as many attachments as I added in the pop up window, but no thumbnails, and no way to click on the individual files to add them. What else do I need to do, or what am I missing?

Thank you. I love this resource!

Todd

Todd thanks for your support. the limit is 5 attached images with each post. I have noticed my self when adding 5 images that it say you reached the limit.
click then on the "X" to close the pupup window and then submit the post. Once the post is submitted you will see all 5 images in the post as attachments.
if you attach 1-4 images you should click on done to let the software now that you are "done" then click on submit.
I just tested this and it works.
Hope it works out for you.

When creating a new thread or response, you'll see a "Attachment Manager" link on the "Full Reply" or "New Post" page. When selecting this option you'll receive a popup which will allow you to attach files to your post.

Steps:
1. Click "Attachment Manager" to bring up the "Attachment" window.
2. Click "Browse" to bring up the file browser window; this will allow you to browse your computer for any files or images you wish to upload; please note that you're bound by whatever the "allowed file type" setting is for the forum.
3. Click "Open" on the file you wish to upload.
4. Enter a descriptive caption for that file (optional).
5. Click "Upload" to add another file, or "Done Adding Files" to close the window and complete your posting.

Please note that you must enter some text in both the "subject" and "post" fields when responding otherwise you will receive an error; you cannot just respond with an attachment wink.

Reviving this Zombie thread.

I am a premium member, yet due to not being able to upload photos from my iPhone without having to email them to myself as a jpeg then log in on a computer and upload from there which is all very tedious

When photobucket was a viable option (which I used as well as being a premium member, I didn’t join the site to use it’s photo uploading ability) posting was much easier, I could
Upload from my phone to photo bucket and sighing a couple of minutes have a linked image on this site, not just as an attachment so I could post multiple images with each one separated with text and done in a preferred layout... instead of having them dumped at the bottom of the page and having the reader try and figure out which picture for which comment.
However as mentioned it’s impossible to upload from an apple product so even the latter would be an improvement of not being able to post Images at all.

Is this something that can be looked into Morgan (the site accepting and resizing apple image code) or is there a decent photo uploading site where you can easily place an image within the posting?

Allan You can uplaod .JPEG attachements from your iPhone now
The only thing is that we don't allow larger file size than 8M.. so if you have the newest iPhone you may set your images to a slightly less large setting.
We don't aprove iPhone printscreens to be uploaded as they are .PNG cause it don't compress the image enough but :JPEG is fine..

Let me know when you have uploaded from iPhone

Allan, glad you liked it, there is one extra bonus.

Right now the photo you uploaded are an attachecment.
You can turn it into an inline photo meaning you can place it as a larger size photo exactly where you want it in the post.

in order to test that do as follows

Go to your test post and click "Edit"
Then click on "Use full editor"
Then place the cursor where you want the image to be placed, since you only wrote one line place cursor between two words.
Then click on Attachement link
Then click on the little photo icon for the photo/image

Then save

Voila you have now a large size photo exactly where you want it.

Once you learned it you can do this the same time as you upload the attachement
