I think this might be a good place depending upon the issues that you have especially if they are competition related.

Otherwise the section dedicated to modified specials could also be a source of info.

You an I must be some of the only folks out there with BSA twin powered Rickmans. I've often wondered where these bikes belong in the forum, but the chopper forum could be one.

Well, leon...I had no idea. Appears you have an off-road version. Good to know.

Oh Yeah Alex,
Mk III's and Mk IV's, besides the CR bikes. Too many of them were trumpets... I've only seen two, maybe three, A65 shod off-road competition bikes, always lusted after one. I've heard of other versions, with other engines.... Never seen...

I have on my book shelf, an original "Desert Sand" front Avon decal-ed lo-mount fender. Still sealed in it's plastic wrapper. And nothing to put it onto.... It is VERY incorrect for my 125's and 250's... Those are either Rickman Red, or US Racing Blue...

....And yours is a CR version, correct? That british racing green is a common color for large Rickman's, correct? Except, perhaps, for the Royal Enfeild versions, which seemed to endlessly be an orange? I've seen several RE's, they were all that orange color...

Looks very nice, and fairly original?

I have a 4-bolt disc, which I have no idea where it goes, correctly. I thought it was norton? Still not certain...

Yup, that's the CR frame. Almost identical to the RE production version. I haven't seen many BRG ones from back in the day...though I've seen a few modern builds with that color. Seems like most of the triumphs were blue. This one is very original, I am the second owner and pretty much the only changes have been tires, battery, zener plugs and some hoses. Still the original points, I think...

This one has six-bolt hubs front and rear.

So then what do you call a bike like that one I have? Did they have some kinda name like motocross back then? I think body parts on this one were blue like Triumph versions I've seen.

Leon,
I believe it was either a Mk III, or Mk IV Rickman BSA A65 or A50.
I can't do better than that, as the fellow who knew that stuff, as far as I knew anyway, Passed early this year, or last year.
My parts source has thus dried up.

I have a few Mk III and Mk IV body parts, but not many...
I believe I might have the blue side panels for your bike, or in Rickman Red.... Maybe a tail section.... Maybe other parts...
Brett
P.S. The other Rickman Mk III and Mk IV BSA's I've seen, were all Rickman Red...

But I mean what kind of BIKE would you call it? I have period magazine around here somewhere with a review of that same setup, all I can remember them calling it was an "already obsolete cow-path racer" or something similar. I'll have to look for the magazine.

I also have the airbox and side covers, but haven't seen them in a while- can't remember color or if they have been painted. This Rickman isn't mine, but its been here 5 or 6 years. Start it up sometimes, it really rides nice!

Oh, OK Leon,
What it is, is an old scrambler/desert racer.
What would be an MX'er today.

Does anyone have any details of 'Metisse Red' as in colour code or a simular auto colour that matches ?

Triumphs (at least the early models with disc brakes) use 4-bolt discs...

DB133,
Have you thought to have an auto paint store use a spectrograph to get the paint as close as possible?

Reynolds still make frame sets for push bikes, why not contact them.
Because Tig is so common now 531 has been superseded, theres loads to choose from. The bigger numbers need special techniques like silver brazing .
This stuff looks interesting

thanks Gavin, I can't contact them, reynolds don't sell to the public
631 doesn't need special techniques as 4130 that needs to be heated to specific temp
then allowed to cool .Ken
