looks like i will have to get some sort of factory record to get this free 40 year old tax thing from the dvla, my no's start KK, september 1975, but the dvla will not agree with the manual copy of manufacture dates for some reason.
Why would they?
DVLA are not triple, or even Triumph dating experts. With respect, this is hardly new, DVLA put in place a procedure when the rolling cut-off date was reintroduced, so it has been known about for some time.
The TR3OC is on the DVLA list of approved owners' clubs - http://www.tr3oc.com/archive-machine-dating/uk-historic-road-tax/

i wanted to ride this month, but am not taxed.
Then just pay the VED 'til your bike is reclassified? It'll be refunded.
full letter from an approved source, it also needs to state the bike was despatched direct to the UK and Nova does not apply. They insisted on that with me last year even though the bike was registered just a few months after it was made.
With respect, you got someone who was making it up as they went along. Changing the classification from "Bicycle" to "Historic" has nothing to with NOVA (Notification Of Vehicle Arrival), which has to with the "First [UK] Registration" of an imported vehicle; the aforementioned http://www.tr3oc.com/archive-machine-dating/
webpage shows a copy of the document supplied to the DVLA by the TR3OC ... mention of NOVA?
