I getting a 68 T100 that is rough. Motor rolls over and has compression (At least that what I'm being told)

No title
It has motor, frame, front end with wheel (looks to be longer than stock 6" over?), rear wheel, oil tank.
No sheet metal.

I'm not a Triumph guy at this point, not sure what I will do with it.
Picking it up this afternoon.

I will post pic when it's in my hands.

Thanks for any info.

Might want to post pics before it's in your hands. Hard to evaluate unseen.

A little on the high side IMHO. I have sold better pieces and parts for less. Spend some time on fleabay to see what the missing stuff is gonna cost.

Red, it looks like you have already decided to get it. If you have a lot of used parts on hand to build a runner, well, maybe, but the bike no doubt needs everything, down to the crank.

Just my view, I'd keep looking, or get this for a few bucks and another one to build one good one.

Don't pay much.

$200...for parts. Its not worth restoring. By the time you get enough parts to make it road worthy you could have bought something in a lot better shape that is in working order, near or totally complete.

Thanks to everyone.
Yes it will take a lot to get it back to something nice.
Motor is all there except for one valve adjuster cover. I'm going to see if it will start it rolls over and seem to have compression.

Time to do some reading and looking at wiring system.

Thanks again Red

Risking telling you things you know already, before you try starting it, as well as oil in the tank, douse the valve gear with oil from a squirt can and put 1/2-pint or so into the crankcase. No sense in mullering engine parts that've survived this long for the sake of a bit of oil.

Also if you didn't know it already, '68 is the last year of the timing-side bush.

Hth.

Hey Red,
I have made it a habit to check compression before starting a barn find. If you get it going and the cylinders are rusted, there's a good chance of seizing a piston. My TR5T taught me this. This guy thinks they are gold; http://www.eBay.com/itm/Triumph-Other-/131760598423?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1ead8b2d97:g:FCYAAOSwLpdW8syD&item=131760598423

79 ES Street Tracker (in the planning stage)
Enough parts to build a couple more. smile

trumpettwin you are right that guy does think its gold. Notice no bids on it yet.

Thanks for all the advice.
