I dropped my cases off at the machine shop today. Unfortunately my cam is in need of replacing. I am looking for a good used or a new one and was wondering who you all source your cams from. It is a stock part(68-0473)

There are always a few on eBay.
Take a good look at the pictures and if it looks good, bookmark it.

I just did a search "BSA A65 camshaft" and got 33 results going in price from a low of $29 to medium priced ones around the $50 and then some unrealistic high prices over well over the hundred and two hundred plus prices for second hand ones. The new ones also seemed a bit on the high side. How are the followers?
Here's a link for the search; http://www.eBay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...0&_nkw=BSA+A65+camshaft&_sacat=0

I did find this one that looked reasonable for $38; http://www.eBay.com/itm/BSA-A65-A50...OD-SHAPE-GOOD-LOBES-AND-TH-/371431235505

There was a new one in the UK that was only $80, that to me sounds like a bargain.

It's not something I would cheap put on, good new ones are not expensive and now that cam followers are available new too now, I would buy a set of those as well.

I have one 473 cam where only one lobe times up anything like where it should and have the correct lift, the rest of them has been stoned smooth or something at some point. The bike ran ok with it in though.

Now let’s all have a beer beerchug

68’ A65 Lightning “clubman”
71’ A65 823 Thunderbolt (undergoing restoration)
67’ D10 sportsman (undergoing restoration)
68’ D14 trials (undergoing transformation)

I see someone has just bought that one at $38. http://www.eBay.com.au/itm/BSA-A65-...OD-SHAPE-GOOD-LOBES-AND-TH-/371431235505
I can't see that second hand cams in a Thunderbolt or Lightning come to that are going to be that noticeable so long as they don't look worn out in the bearing or cam face areas.
Then again, there was this one in the UK, supposed to be new. Not too expensive either. http://www.eBay.com.au/itm/BSA-A65-CAMSHAFT-68-0473-/322011143627

I have a friend sending me a used cam, If it's no good I'll be looking for a new one. Looked on eBay, none that I feel too good about.
