I have a 8" half width hub from an A65, it will fit straight in my B31 as it identical except for slightly wider shoes.
I wish to improve the braking further, so far my thoughts are:-
1) Pearson TLS brake
2) Modify the std brake plate to take twin cams and shoes from BSA/Triumph full width brake
3) Modify a TLS brake plate to fit my hub, the full width type is probably difficult, maybe a conical type? anyone done this?
4) something else?
I will welcome any thoughts

Andy--the dodge "in the day" was to take two of the earlier 8" single sided brakes (as fitted to 1954 on A7s/A10s)and then to machine the hubs to give a double sided brake---SLS on each side.
Stopped like a good 'un!

I bet 2 of those hubs cured the wheelies
Actually I love the look of the 1/2 width hub

Hi Andy,
Have you seen the front TLS conversion Tim Lynch did on his Jawbsa?

Yes I have seen that conversion. My thoughts were along similar lines but with separate shoe abutments

The 260mm Yamaha TZ style brake is awesome. I had one years ago on a TR2B 350.
I would probably buy from Czech rather than USA due to possible (probable) import charges

Yesterday I spoke to Jim Lomas and I have made the decision.
I am going for the Robinson 4LS. I am buying it through my business so I will not have to pay the VAT

Andy, I have to say I'm a bit gob smacked!

This brake is for a B31?!?!

Isn't a 4 leading shoe brake massive overkill?

I mean I could understand if it were a big bore long stroke A65 or an A75 Triple. Is there something a bit special with your B31?

Just asking.

Cheers JG

It is a bit special, 400cc, ported head with DB32 valves, ABSAF DB32 vernier cams, Pearson crank and Nova 5 speed gearbox.
But thinking logically, a 200KG B31 will need the same stopping power to haul it down from 70MPH as a 200KG big bore A65 will

My brake left Lnare in Czech Republic on 10th, tracked via Prague to Nuernberg and today it arrived in Nothampton.
With a bit of luck it will be in my sweaty mitts on Monday

That is delicious

I love it, but I'm tragically jealous as buggery.
