back again, i thought the drain screw for the fork oil was slightly leaking, but it turns out that one of the the 4 studs that hold the front wheel on is leaking fork oil, how can this be do they screw right through to plug the oil , or do you reckon their might be a crack up there somewhere? any ideas how to fix, it's hardly leaking but annoying never the less. jez
The slider studs do not go into the bore. If a stud is leaking then there is a crack into the bore. PTFE tape on the stud threads will only let you turn the stud in harder and possibly make the crack worse.
thanks for the advice LAB, the 2 nuts did the trick and removed the stud, i drained the leg, cleaned the inner thread with carb cleaner to make all dry, used the sealant on the thread, screwed it back in, replaced fork oil, been out today for a good blast, all dry under their now. thanks again for the "positive" replies.
