I am trying to lace a 1969 BSA Front TLS Brake Hub to a valanced (shouldered) alloy WM2 Borrani front rim. I have a set of stainless steel spokes from Buchanan's that should be the right ones to use for this application. Is there anywhere that I can go to find the proper lacing pattern? Or, does anyone have a closeup picture of a front Dunlop valanced wheel with TLS hub that I can use for a pattern? I really need some way to look at the pattern some way, or have a photo that will let me decipher the proper tls/valanced alloy rim lacing pattern? PLEASE HELP?

It doesn't have to be a Dunlop rim. Jones rims are the same lace pattern if the rim is for a TLS hub. You should have 3 different spokes, 20 straight for the left side, 10 angled for the inner right side, and 10 outer for the right side. The images are of a Borrani rim and a '68 TLS hub.

The hub/brake is common to '69 Triumphs, and '70 BSA's and Triumphs, so look at any of them too?

Hth.

Regards,

Is the rim drilled for the cross-one lacing pattern of the BSA/Triumph hub?

That is a good question to ask as there are WM2 Borranis that were made for other brands of bikes.

It would be important to know what the stamped numbers are on the inside (tube side) of the rim. Some rims are drilled such that a TLS hub will not match up, like the common BSA #42-5905 from '66/'67. Only a few are drilled to match to a TLS hub.

Thank you so much for the great information and photos. You showed just what I have. I definitely have the wrong spokes. I am also wondering that you mentioned "10 outer (spokes) for the right side....." Are the final ten for the outer right side straight or angled?
I want to thank everyone who wrote to help. Cheers to you all, and Grand Kudos to you Gary!

Robert

Spoke info for 8" TLS in 19" rim

8-10g*143mm Straight 20 off
8-10g*124mm(100degree) 10 off
8-10g*121.5mm(78degree)10 off

So for the flange side you should have 2 sets of 10 with different angled heads.
