I need a remote filter kit for my 57 Thunderbird as its mostly a standard looking bike I would like to hide oil filter maybe at lower rear guard or between the toolbox/oil tank. Most of the kits I have seen including the kit I have fitted on Tribsa would be to big to hide, one kit I have my eye on is for a oil heating system which is compact and also has a paper filter which can be renewed. Now my question is this the filter is 15 micron is this ok to use with the return on a pre unit Triumph ?.I have been trying to find out the the spec of the filter kit I have fitted to my Tribsa but with no luck.. search TriCor England's site for "Oil Filter"

they do 2/3 types, including a pre unit one.

Don't know if this would work on preunit, but this homemade one fits on the RH side, behind the foot peg/engine plate, above the center stand. It's almost out off sight if a black can is used, and the passenger footpeg plate and muffler is installed.

Never thought about making my own! Something to think about. The position on your unit Triumph looks where I would have to mount mine I do want it hidden and dont want to use bike without one fitted. Thanks for the idea...Dave

Anglobike have looked at the Tricor site and the BSA A10 one looks nice and compact will have to have a measure for max size I can fit to bike and ask for measurements...Dave

Paul Goff does a kit, I have one on my 56 Thunderbird. Filter is hidden down in front of back wheel, you can barely see it.

KC, on your setup which holes are you using for the 2 forward mounting bolts, they do not look far enough in front to pick up on the footrest mounting bolts but the picture angles may distort the distances.

in the previous photos. the 2 bolts above and below the footrest attachment. These:

I have to warn you, this was a bit of Fuss to get right, as I needed to add a spacer between the bracket and the bike, and fiddle with the fittings. Once it was sorted, it is quite nice. On this TR6C, with no passenger footrest/muffler mounts plates, it can be seen, but not easily if standing up. On a TR6R/120, behind the muffler and foot plate, it would be hidden. My Buddy and I made a few of them, but it's not a simple bolt on kit, you have to want it. Here's a shot looking up at the bracket and spacers with frame tube showing on the rtght.

Thanks KC, as I have a Norton filter head I will not have the connection blocks to get in the way but it will still need spacers so the bolt heads clear the plate and the plate clears the frame.
