I'm looking for a cam ring for a Lucas K1F magneto. The part # I need is 459156 which is an anti clockwise right hand spring control. I'm having trouble finding a 459156, but I have found a couple of different suppliers that have a Lucas part# 459321 cam rings for a K1FC magneto that are also an anti clockwise right hand spring control. Does anybody happen to know if these cam rings are interchangeable?

Hi,
the short answer is no. The 459156 cam is for the Lucas K1F model 42183 E/F used on various Panthers from '49-'57. The 459321 ring cam is for some of the competition versions of the Lucas N1, namely the NC1 & KNC1 used on some BSA Goldstars, AJS, Matchless, & Royal Enfield single cylinder comp. bikes for 1957.

The correct ring cam is available, I order mine from a manufacturer in the UK. Because I rebuild Lucas & BT-H magnetos & regularly order from the UK & can get you a price if you wish.
Please contact me off-line if interested, otherwise one may come up on eBay eventually.

All the best,

We diverge, but how is it that your ES2 project seems to be getting a year younger every week ?
From the numbers you quoted, it was made as a 1952.
And a 1954 is quite a different model (swingarm etc).

Cheers !
