I'm trying to figure out what size bearings are in the rear wheel of my Panther. The bearings are marked " Hoffmann England 315 V2 VUT"

When I put a caliper on the bearings I'm kinda coming up with odd numbers:

41.95mm OD x 14.78mm ID or
1.651" OD x .581" ID

Can anybody help me out with what size bearings I need to replace these with.

Thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking. This is the first Brit bike I've owned, and I wasn't sure if metric bearings would be mixed in with a bike that otherwise has all Whitworth hardware.

A simple search on "Hoffman 315 ball bearing" gives an interchange

Thanks, I was previously looking at a different interchange chart and the size was completely off. The chart you linked makes sense.
