Fellows I thought I'd start a new thread for our night out later this summer (time and dates to be worked out soon).

For those of you close enough.....PLEASE come join us for a night out in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia/North Carolina.

We're talking about two different camp grounds

TWOS

Formaly known as Two Wheels Only

And Iron Horse

We'll talk it over and decide on a time and date soon.

BOTH of these campgrounds are set up for motorcycles and are located in the beautiful GA/NC mountains with plenty of fine motorcycling roads close by.

PLEASE......come join us....put faces to screen names and join in on the tire kicking and lie swapping.

Hope to see ya soon.....Gordon in NC

Since MikeB has already indicated that August would be better for him, I will add that it would be better for me, too, as I am still healing. Especially if Ironhorse is a possibility. Greg

How about I call both sites tomorrow and ask about "special" events/groups they have planned for the month of August? I would hate for us to end up right in the middle of a Harley/BMW/you name it rally.

I'll put my vote in for August...since I'll be on the B50 it will give me time to get it ready.

I'll report back tomorrow.

Uhm,
Not to put any kinda dampener on your choice of weekend, but the OVBSAOC summer swap and show is August 8,9, & 10.

Hey Brett... confused there's five weekends in August and so far David is the only one who mentioned a date???? and his was the first weekend and your talking about the second weekend....what did I miss?

I don't think any of our core group was planning on attending the OVBSAOC summer event. But even though we were together last weekend.....I could have missed that too?????

Cheers......Gordon in NC

Well ya learn something new every day. I wasn't able to talk to anybody at TWOS but left a couple of messages and will try again tomorrow. But I did talk to the nice lady at Iron Horse and she says August is their slowest month?????????? so they don't have any LARGE groups the whole month.

I would like to put my vote in for TWOS though, since I've heard nothing but good stuff about it (even though it's new) and would like to give it a try....AND it gives us NC boys a little further to ride. :bigt

Now if we could just talk limeyrider, RAF and a few other new fellows into riding out...we'll have done good.

I'm packing already.... laughing

Still no word from TWOS... frown All I can say is, I hope they run the campground better than they do their phones.

Finally got in touch with TWOS. Talked with Mary and she says the only thing planned for August is some sort of swap meet Aug 9. Now it's an anything goes swap so don't be expecting motorcycle stuff.

My decals are on my B50's tank (thank you Don Roe) and I'll get it back on the road this weekend....so I'll be ready.

My plan is to leave after work on Friday and get to the campground Friday night so I have all day Saturday to relax. The headlight on the B50 lights up the world and I won't mind taking the super slab part of the way to save time.

Any weekend would be fine with me fellows....somebody is just going to have to step up and set a date and we'll all chime in
to see if it'll work??????????????????

David said maybe the 2nd

DPO says the 15th

Hope your summer is the BEST ever......Gordon in NC

If nothing unexpected comes up, I can go any weekend in August. Pick a date that works for those with other obligations. Either place is fine with me, Ironhorse is fancier than TWoS. Greg

Hey Greg, if you don't mind I'd like to try TWOS and lets put IronHorse off for maybe next time. Iron Horse is REALLY nice but I'd like to try TWOS since I've never been.

I'll go with DPO and vote for the 15th. David didn't say he couldn't do that date????

raf.....I know your out there... smile you can run but you can't hide pard. I'll even come as 4th TN (Blue) and I'll run around the campground and let ya shoot me. laughing

15th is my anniversary. My lovely wife would probably understand if I approached this thoughtfully.
Wadda you think, Greg?
That said, the next weekend is fine, too.
Should give me time to get any bugs out of the latest edition of the frankenbike.

Mike, I'm probably not the guy to ask about anniversaries and camping trips. I will tell you this - before you spring it on her, make sure all the firearms are locked up and the key well hidden. I hope we can agree on a date that works for everyone, it would be a shame to leave anyone out. Greg

Ain't that the truth. smile

So.....I can change my vote to the 22-24. Mark....how about it?

Mike and Superman both won't be able to make the 15th.....gota work out a date that everybody can live with.

The reason I'm pushing this a little is I would like to give those new fellows sitting on the fence about attending for the first time a chance to plan on attending.

On another note. I rode my B44 rig up to Grandfather Mountain yesterday to help my 91 year old father with his duties at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. The Torchlight Ceremony where the clans announce their arrival at the games has always been one of my favorite parts of the weekend. Last night I had the honor of standing on the field with my father as he called in the Stewart Clan. I left the field around 10 pm and had a wonderful moon lit ride back home with 25 miles or so of it on the Blue Ridge Parkway....what a beautiful ride. My father is the one who got me into motorcycles in the first place. I rode up because he wanted to see the B44 Rig in person. He still says...they ruined motorcycles when they put swingarms on them. laughing

I love this hobby....getting to spend time with good folks, moon lit rides along a mountain ridge highway....life just couldn't be better.

Looking forward to our get together......Gordon in NC

Glad you had a good ride last night, G. And good on your dad for getting out to the games. Just hope your kilt was tucked in for the ride home.
