OK Dude, it's sooner rather than later, so now me yarn...

As y'all know, I've been hankering after a Girder Forked machine, all down to Baza really, he let me ride the wonderful Empire Star, and watching that headlight bounce up and down, was just SO darn entertaining. I just had to have me one, THEN the bugger let me have a go on his WDM20, and that thing is bloody MARVELLOUS...

SO, the search was on, and as my M21 is the same age as me, I thought it might be a giggle to get the Girder Forked jobbie, the same age as me old Dad. But as he was born in 1932, the bikes of that age didn't really fit the bill, y'all know what it's like, you get an *Idea* of what the bike should look like, and nothing from 32 looked right. So it was time to up the years, and I choose 35, me Mum's birth year. And once again, the bikes proved to be not quite 'Right'...

As time passed me and Baza were mooching about, and I saw what was 'Right' it was a Velo, as I was open to any make, it didn't matter, BUT, and you'll notice that's a HOW MUCH..? Sort of but, the price was... Well I thought it was the telephone number.. shocked

So I settled down to just waiting, then Baza let me have another ride on his WDM20, and do you know what, I thought, hang on lad, THIS is just perfick. I 'Know' the engine, the look is right, and so, WHY NOT..?

Then the search was narrowed down even more, just BSA and WDM20's in particular, they came and went, the offers were made and kicked back, even had Geoff & Sara looking for one in Belgium for me. Then *IT* showed up..!

On E-Bay, I had a price in me head, and it was well under that, so in went me bid, and once again the Hell Hole got in the way.. mad So I told Baza to go to my maximum, and not a penny more. But it wasn't needed, as the bid I put in, was taking it to the line, and in a New York heart beat, it was mine.. grin

It's in Civilian trim, and it's a 1940 jobbie, SO today we're off to the War & Peace show, to get an idea for the Colour, the wonderful Janette won't have me with a Green bike. And I don't like that Magnolia they came in, anyway as we speak the bike isn't with me YET, that's how 'Out of the Bag' this yarn is..!

And as it's not run for 13yrs I'll have the Magneto rebuilt, and give it a good check over, then Baza will be put to painting duties as punisment for letting the Cat out, THEN and only THEN will I ride the wheels off it.. grin

And say not one word to Janette, she hasn't got a clue about this, BLIMEY, how am I going to explain THIS one away.. crazy help

Shaun congratulations. :bigt

Show pictures of her, before now, and after the paint work later.

PS... Shaun I mailed you some pictures of a similar army green wartime BSA owned by a fellow in my circles.
The blue smoke on one of them comes from a Jawa which did not bother to take pictures of.

Ger lad, that's a fine looking machine, thanks for sending me it lad, BUT, why not post that same photo for EVERYONE to see and enjoy..?

Andy lad, err... laughing :bigt

Frank lad, posting the E-Bay photos will spoil me yarn, and I'm SURE you don't want to do that now do you..? And knowing me lad, you KNOW there will be a yarn or three about the bike, so just hang fire lad...

Patience lad is a vitue, slow down, take a breath, and wait, I swear it's all this bloody computer hurry up, I want it NOW World we're living in.. mad

And that's ONE thing I'm NOT doing with this bike, I won't be rushed, it'll be ready when it's ready, don't care what Rally or International is coming along, if I'm not happy about something on the bike, and it means missing the Rally, then miss the Rally it will. You can't rush something as old as this, just try rushing Grandad about and see how you get on.. laughing

A fine yarn on this lovely Saturday morn! Congrats mate. Show us the pics when you want. It's the yarn we're waiting to hear more of. And to cast bets on if'n you survive the Lovely Janette at that moment of realization. smile

Enjoy the rally. Post plenty of pics of that, tho'!

Cheers

"BLIMEY, how am I going to explain THIS one away"

Just push it to a dark corner of the shed and when Janette sees and asks about it just say "What, that old thing? why I've had that thing for ages"
Just because that's never worked for me doesn't mean it isn't worth a try :bigt

When given the choice between two evils I picked the one I haven't tried before

Because it's your yarn I don't want to spoil, lad wink

One picture has faces on them, so I'll post the one with only the bikes.
After all it's just a photo of my A65 with an M2x in battle colours next to it.
