Greetings,

Ad Age Media just announced that Newsweek magazine is running a retro
ad campaign honoring the successful AMC series "Mad Men". The series
portrays ad agency lifestyle in the 1950s. Newsweek encouraged
advertisers to design ad campaigns styled for that era with subtle
updates to their current products and/or services. Ad Age Media is
running an Internet contest to award the best of these ads.

Triumph Motorcycles has surprisingly ran an ad in Newsweek based on
their Steve McQueen/Bonneville campaign. This is an unusual
advertising strategy for Triumph since nearly all of their marketing
initiatives target the motorcycle community direct rather that the
general public. Triumph is competing with some very powerful brands
and campaigns in this Newsweek issue. Let's give Triumph support for
this new innovative ad campaign!

Please click on the following link and vote for the Triumph ad.

The Triumph ad can be viewed on this website, and once you vote, a
running tabulation of the voting results will be shared with you.

Please circulate and post this email to all your contacts for further
support.

Thank you for your support of the British Motorcycle!

Cool! They used the old Triumph logo.

+ 1. I have to wonder how they were allowed to use the old logo! Most people won't notice of course, but the face is perfect!

Down to 1 BSA, 2 Triumphs, 1 '56 Chevy
1 '65 XLCH, Hernia Gift, on the way to Japan!

Only other ad which tempted me was Mercedes/Benz.
They've come dangerously close to the 300SL with that car.
I remember one of their ads from the late 70's which I thought was very good, a two-page ad. First page, "And now a message from the winner of more international races than any other car maker." Second page, surprise, it's Mercedes/Benz ad.
A surprise for most people at the time because they hadn't actively campaigned since the mid 50's.

Steve looks to be quite worried about how heavy his beloved "Triumph" has become. The Spam ad was my favorite but I couldn't figure out how to vote so it doesn't matter.
