We are now shipping the new Altair ignition system for Triumph/Bsa/Norton twins.

This new system is especially suitable for the Norton Commando, with a mapped advance curve that features idle stabilisation.

This is a fully digital design, but the module is more compact than the Smart Fire systems - the module is in the same case as the Sure Fire systems. As with all of our systems, the main ignition 'logic' is kept away from the high temperatures that can occur in the timing cavity.
Long wiring allows the module to be fitted in a choice of locations.

There’s a tacho output signal wire, but no kill switch input wire or rev-limiter button (as featured in the Smart Fire systems). An on-board timing light makes static timing simpler.

Suitable ignition coils are two 6 volt Lucas type (or equivalent) or one 12 volt dual output type (3 to 4.5 ohm primary resistance). These are available as an optional extra, if required.

Later in the year the new Altair systems will also be offered in a ‘Pro’ version, which will incorporate an 8-way switch in the back of the module. This will allow a number of extra features, including selection from a number of advance curves, rev-limiter, test function, etc.

Hi Allan,

Please let me know what you think of the "Pazon" when fitted.

I had intended fitting one on the 67 A65 rebuild I'm having done - the one with the timing light and rev limiter (Surefire ?)as I'm gonna have to be careful with running in as the engine is getting done top and bottom (expensive)- hopefully to keep it going another 45 years :-)- with a twin output coil - hopefully the limiting will void my temptation to let rip like a big kid and costing myself another fortune!
