Are there any decals that are unique to the RGS? Thanks.

The only one I have seen is one on the rear number plate under the piled arms decal.
I don't know if it an original item, but it looks the part.

Trev,

The only thing I've seen on the rear number plate is the piled arms with 650cc under it, with no mention of the model. I've also seen 650cc Twin, any idea of which is correct? What have you seen? Thanks.

Bob,
I don't know what is original. On my other bikes I use the piled arms with the capacity as you have mentioned.
I saw the RGS decal listed in a catalogue which noted it is used with a piled arms decal without any capacity.
I bought a set and have applied them to the number plate but the bike is off the road at the moment as it is worn out and awaiting restoration.
Here in Oz , the RGS is pretty rare, very few were imported in '62 & '63 as far as I can tell. It seems the majority went to the U.S.
Maybe you should ask this question on the BSA board and see what results.

Bob,

I restored an RGS over a five year period some time ago (the one in my avatar picture on the left). I don't recall a single RGS unique decal. In fact, the only decals I remember were the "Made in England" decal on the steering head, the "Piled Arms" decals on the oil tank/tool box, and the "Piled Arms" on the top of the tail light housing.

One thing you'll hear about the RGS's was that the only consistent thing about them was they were inconsistent. I don't think the factory paid a lot of attention to the decals and precisely where they went. Some of the parts were inconsistent as well.

There is a supplemental RGS parts list which you will need if you are restoring one. There is no unique decal mentioned in the list.

Steve,

Thanks for responding. I have a copy of the supplemental part list. My bike has been completed since last fall and so far has about 700 miles and is running well. I asked about decals to make sure that I wasn't overlooking anything.

Hi all I know it's a bit late, but I was just scrolling and found this.
RGS did have a piled arms sticker on the top of the tail light and under the piled arms had Rocket Gold Star instead of eg:650
Cheers
Andy

i had an RGS in UK back in the mid sixties. It only had the piled arms and 650 twin on the rear light bracket. Also not present were the Made in england decal on the front downtubes.Perhaps it was only the export bikes that had these?
I think there is some confusion when we talk about incosistancy with the RGS. These bikes had a massive options list, as well as specific models for different markets.
EG US spec quite different to typical UK.
So the differences were probably dealer and customer driven.
small example:
US RGS models seemed to all have dunlop aluminum rims, A lot of UK machines and Canadian had steel Jones rims as the aluminum rim was optional.
