dont wanna get into it , but I had some med issues this year that the Doc told me was gonna keep me off the bike till august at the earliest (i'd like to acknowledge the patience and understanding of my loved ones, I know I have been a total A$$ to be around since I heard this ) but fortunatley the recovery has come along a whole lot better than anticipated , there are still a few issues , but the short story is I have a green light to ride . This caught me by surprise as I only had the other bike road legal at that moment, figuring I'd spend some time after Mid-Ohio working out some issues on the BSA and getting it road legal .

anyway , I have to confess that when I got this news I went ahead and planned anice little 600 mile day with an old friend who recently got a bike , and me on my other bike , met up with GOLD S-TARvin , blazed a trail across some picturesque Ohio backroads and had a great time , Tarvin didnt complain too much about the non britt aspect , and thi sis appreciated .

So , now I had a chance to get the beeza legal , took care of a few of the critical issues (still leaks oil like a pig , but that can wait for the winter ) ad I had a chance to take it out for the first time since early spring , where I got caught in one of the worst snow storms I have ever ridden through and parked it afterward . I knew I missed this bike , I just didnt realize how much , it feels like it was made just for me, it runs great , sounds good , has more power down low than the other bike , and all in all , it was like hanging with an old good friend. I really cant say anything bad about the other bike, it will run at a faster pace on the freeway and like it , but it just doesnt have the personality , or even the torque and acceleration , of the ol worn out BSA . I did a couple hours on it tonite , all seems well , gonna ride it to work in the morning to do some more shakedwn on it , but it feels like it is ready for the Mid-Ohio ... looks like a road apple in the august sun , but it sure makes me happy .

That's fanastic news BONZO. You must have been feeling more than a bit depressed bfore you were given the green light.

Joel suffering injuries from his race crash had put a dampener on things. So its nice to have some good news for a change

Now if only Barb's doc would give her the green light things would start to look even better.

When the injury/medical snake bites; sometimes the results are terminal and sometimes you are granted a second chance! Having walked a mile in those shoes; I'll bet some on the board have empathy. I know I do. If you are in good health, have a fine Brit Bike at your disposal, and are not taking advantage of the opportunity; no amount of regret will ever bring back those wasted days! Should you ride the beezer to Mid-Ohio know that there are those who can't make the trip who nevertheless will travel with you.

I know what you mean about the A65, Bonzo. "Back in the day", I was off my '67 for a couple of years here and there, down for repairs and riding my '69 Beemer and then the '72 Beemer, and every time I got back on the A65 it was exactly like you said, like meeting up with an old friend. The first time, my '67 still had the original paint on the fuel tank, and I remember looking down at the lightning bolt decal and thinking, how cool, and how un-BMW!

Mountainman, an inspired reminder about making the most of every day, I for one need that now and then! Hey whereabouts in Western NY are you? I'm hearing rumors that the Syracuse Mile is ON this year, need to find out about that!

Thanks for the words guys ,thinkgs are way better than expected around here .

Bodger , I am not sure what is happening with son joel ? Did I miss a post or is this off board bizness? I sure hope he is recovering well .

It sounds like Barb cant catch a break, you have to admire her perseverence with all she has been through and wish her all the best , looking fwd to next year maybe ?

Mountain man , the situation was never serious , mostly me whinin about not being allowed to ride , and finally being old enough to listen when the doc speaks. I guess he figured with my age combined with my generally pi$$ poor physical condition that I would take a long time healing , he didnt consider the britbike incentive , these things have therapeutic value ya know .

mark , you are right , the other bike has a personality of a soldier , always ready to do whaever the job at hand requires and get it done well , where the Beeza is more like your fishing buddy , it reacts to whatver is going on, tends to hve some input on how fast you get there , and is always looking for an adventure .

Didn't mean to give the wrong impression about Joel. Really don't know anything further than info posted by Dave. Sounds though that his injuries are serious enough that he is in for a longish recovery period.

Anyway, good to hear that you back in the saddle.
