I found a gas tank for my Triumph T140 on eBay. It's brand new and painted for $300. That's a great price. However, they are made and shipped from India. While the sellers have great feedback, I still would feel better if I could talk to someone who actually bought one. The feedback list shows that they sold many Gold Star tanks, so I am asking you BSA guys. Thanks.

I bought a 4 gallon chrome A65 tank. Packaging was very good. It looks great, I have not painted it or put gas in it yet, however have talked to a number of Goldstar guys who are happy with the tank.
good luck

I bought a T140 Export tank to put on my Beeza bobber. It required a shed load of filler to get it ready for paint, when its mounted on the bike its way off center, I had to make a new center mounting bolt rubber as the hole is to small, both petrol tap threaded holes are out of square and were a pain to seal properly...then, when it was all painted and on the bike I discovered it had two pin hole leaks.

I am fitting a Export A65 tank this winter so you can buy mine if you wish!

Was it from a seller name tradesparesauto? That's the guy selling these. I heard about tanks made in Pakastan being rough and leaky.

I heard a story that whilst these indian tanks look OK from the outside, they are often rusty inside.

Indian quality control generally isnt upto western standards, however, if the price is right and theres no alternative why not try and see.

I bought mine from Burton Bike Bits and I'm sure its Indian made. They reckon they have sold 300 odd of these tanks with no problem but TMS in Nottingham wont touch 'em with a bargepole. Make your own mind up but i wont entertain one again.

And gunner, yes...this was pretty rusty inside also.

I just bought a Gold Star tank from S&M Motors, Tampa, Florida through e-bay and it arrived yesterday.

I assume it is made overseas, but so far seems to be good quality with no obvious flaws, fits my frame well and my cap and badges fit well too. It was sold with a tank liner either prevent rust or to cover any tiny leaks. I'll fill it with fluid soon and check for leaks to see if I want to use or return it. The exterior was heavily greased and I am trying to find a way to remove it. I paid USD $450 delivered and if it was flawed I could easily return it domestically. Could not find a paint code for the silver so I ordered paint from Don Hutchinson.

vintageconnections; I checked the reviews and found nothing of issue. One said packaging was poor, one Enfield guy said the fit was not a good as he would like it. Nothing on leakage. Yes I have a little surface rust in my tank, but I just WD 40 the inside. Hope it all works out, tanks are hard to find.
Richard
