I've been looking for a nice tank for my T140E. eBay has a vendor from India who will sell a brand new tank painted in black and silver, pinstriped for $300. That's a great price, but I'd feel a whole lot better if I could talk to someone personally who got one. They do have very good feedback, but it is eBay after all.
I'm also going to post in the BSA forum. They list that they've sold a lot of Gold star tanks.

rmak -

There's a thread in the R & T by Jim Hultman, from June, titled "Parts from India?" that addresses that vendor....

Thanks for the tip, Mr. Prince, but it doesn't sound like the same company. This supplier's eBay name is tradesparesauto and they do take paypal.
The tanks look fantastic in the photos. Hope they turn out to be legit!

I haven't been on eBay in the last year and can't get on the site right now, but I believe tradesparesauto has been around for a good 3 years or so now and I believe they have a fairly decent record..at least they did a year ago.

I would give them a try..maybe start out small and go from there.

I wanted to resurrect this old thread to let everyone know that I bought that Indian gas tank. I told the guy I corresponded with that I was going to let people know the quality of the tank he sends and suggested he send me a good one. Well...the tank looks OK if you don't look too close. Pros-cheap and looks good from about five feet away. Cons-serious orange peel in spots, pins stripes don't match up perfectly with the badges, and the worst, there is a small black hair in the silver paint. That's a buzz kill! It will suffice for what I wanted it for which was to paint the original tank. I can always sell it to someone who wants to strip the paint afterwards. Remember, it's true, you get what you pay for.

Well, you received the tank and the one you paid for at that, so that takes care of most peoples apprehension about receiving the product from India as opposed to nothing but a loss of money.

So, the paint sucks but how is the sheet metal quality ? That may be what's most important in the long run bigt

Yeah, John. I have no complaints, and I'm not complaining. I was just reporting that the photos on eBay look a lot better than the real thing. I think the tank metal itself is fine. I wanted people to know what to expect.

How about the packaging? Long way to travel, might be nice for potential buyers to know how well it was packed.

The tank came in a box made of thin metal. Maybe aluminum or tin. Also wrapped in packing pretty good. That was a plus that I forgot to mention.
