Finally getting around to buttoning up the A-10, thanks to some pushrods from A-10 John ,and there seems to be an issue with the pushrod length. This engine is a hodge podge of different engines and there are probably no 2 pieces that were ever in the same engine before so anything is possible . The pushrods seem to be too short leaving a huge gap with the adjusters as tight as they will go. this engine is a very mild A-10 with an iron head and 356 cam . Were the iron and alloy heads using different rocker boxes? I have read that the difference inthe part number is due to the alloy box being "opened up" to accomodate the different angles and I have compared a few of these and they all look like the same height and rocker geometry but I wasn't taking very careful measurements just looking for anything obviously different. I know the iron head is shorter than the alloy and if I have the p[ushrods from an alloy head I would "assume" they would be longer ,if anything, and I would have the opposite problem ?? So.... does anyone have a dimension for the length of the pushrods for an iron A-10 and ,if they are different, the lengtgh for the alloy head models??

Thanks-BONZO

Bonzo,
Pushrods are 8 1/2" & 9 1/2".
If yours are about 1/2" shorter, they may be A7 rods.
The same pushrods are used with either head.

Trev's right; A7 pushrods are 8-1/16" and 9-0".

All my parts books and CDs show the same pushrod part number for A10s, 1950 - 1962 for alloy and iron head. Different number for A7s as mentioned .....

I'll believe that it's a crisis when the people who tell me it's a crisis start acting like it's a crisis ...
