i went to the video store to rent a movie but didn't know what i wanted so i looked for "the wild one" because i'd never seen it and knew marlon brando rode a triumph(they didn't have it)
and got to thinking of what movies have triumphs in them

ones i know of:
the great escape

an officer and a gentleman

the blob (the remake...maybe a little tribute to steve)

how to lose a guy in 10 days (it's a hinkley)

any more?

At the IMCDB (Internet Movie Cars Database) it's broken down into different vehicle, company, and model&cc.

One of the best ones I know of was called Coogan's Bluff or something like that. Had fabulous shots of Clint Eastwood chasing a bad guy all through the "Cloisters" in New York City. Very realistic riding. Good shifting & really winding the Triumphs out.

There`s another one with Clint Eastwood, He`s chasing (again!) some guy on a bike through a park in San Francisco, near the Golden Gate bridge. Clint is riding a Triumph, and I seem to remember the other guy is too. I can`t remember the name of the film though!

Nowhere to Run - Jean Claude Van Damme is an escaped convict who lucks out and is taken in by lonely widow Rosanna Arquette, who also has her former husbands Bonneville out in the barn. We should all be so lucky. This movie has one of the funniest lines in movie history regarding Triumphs.

Shampoo - Warren Beatty rides a Daytona 500 and has superficial physical relationships with numerous LA women. Also is a hair stylist. A classic. Don't watch with the youngsters or your parents.

Thunderheart - Graham Greene is a tribal policeman who rides around the reservation on a '68 T100C. Two thumbs up on this one.

Alice's Restaurant - numerous Triumph cameos. A great movie if you're an Arlo Guthrie fan like me, or enjoy this kind of hippie-dippie sixtie's movie making, but anyone born after 1972 or so may not get it.

Woodstock - there is a very brief scene featuring a rider struggling up a muddy slope on what appears to be a '66 TR6R. The drama ends when he drops the bike onto it's side in the mud. Whatever you do don't watch this movie and Alice's Restaurant back to back in the same evening.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Philosopher's Stone in England). Hagrid rides in on what some say is a Hinckley T100. But I've slowed it down to where I see a drum brake up front.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. A line of vintage bikes outside a 50s diner. Several Triumphs in that line up.

Can anyone tell what that is in the Band of Brothers series? It has the right sound but I can't verify it being a Speed Twin.

Dinx, that's one of the Dirty Harry movies, but I can't remember which.

Magnum Force if it's the one where it's a Triumph police bike for the stunts and a Guzzi when it's just riding involved. i think it's David Soul whom Clint Eastwood is riding against

I have a vauge recollecton of Ben Affleck riding a Triumph America in the crappy movie Dare Devil. Not sure though.

In the new Indy jones movie I'm quite sure that I spotted a discbrake on the featured harley -a bit strange since the year in the film supposedly is 1957!
I guess product placement money won over authentecity...

Oh and of course Bob Dylan in No direction home...
And in I'm not there...

Here's one as well:

Long time since I watched Quadrophenia but since the plotline is along the lines of Mods vs Rockers I quess there should be one or two featured there?

Haven't seen it but believe;
"Pray for the Wildcats" starring William Shatner includes a TRIUMPH TROPHY TRAIL, but fortunately its a KAWASAKI that goes over the cliff.

I'd forgotten about "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" where Luke Perry is astride a '72 Bonnie.

Also, who could forget Steve McQueen in "The Great Escape"? That "German" motorcycle he's riding is a Triumph.

I do believe you're correct, Meridan. Magnum Force does ring a bell!

Beautiful,brand new Triumphs.Think ones a Bonnie

The beach race in "The Worlds Fastest Indian"
and the bikes the roudy boys are on is awsome.

I twiddled the carbs, sold the owner a front brake caliper cover and tail light lens for the '78 Bonnie from "An Officer and a Gentleman", and rode it around the parking lot at Barber's a couple years ago. The bike was for sale last time I talked to Keith, but it's a movie prop with all the promenance and selling accordingly.

I'd LOVE to have the Bonnie from Coogan's bluff...

Think that`s the one Junior, standard road bikes, definately not police iron. Do you know the name of the film? No stand in for Clint, he actually rode the bikes in the chase!!

I have not seen the movie, but Pamela Anderson rode a 900 cc Hinckley Triumph Thunderbird in "Barb Wire".

An employee at the Minneapolis branch of the company I worked for somehow won it in a contest. He knew I was into British bikes and desperately tried to sell it to me, but I was not interested.

Ok, but's it's been a few years since I saw the movie:

So, Jean Claude escapes from prison and is taken in by Rosanna Arquette. She is a widow whose former husband had a T120R, which Jean Claude gets running again. One day, our hero is in the nearby town when the local sheriff comes, spots him as a stranger and starts questioning him, something like this:
Cop:"So, where you from?"
Jean Claude: "Canada"
Cop looks outside at the Triumph.
Cop: "You rode that all the way from Canada?"
Jean Claude: "Yup"
...a pause...
Cop: "You must be a good mechanic."

And the chase scene from Coogan's Bluff. Not sure what language this is in except for when Clint catches the bad guy (universal language of Kick A**).

That's in Spanish.

You know that stunt rider flopped it when he clipped the pony wall at the top of that staircase as they were going up.

I blew my chance to take a picture of a client's T100R with Blue & White tank next to my 67 Bonnie. His bike was even missing the front fender! Now it's all in bits with 6 months till it's back together again, and he wants it all BLACK.
