Gonna take the head off my Trident to decoke and fix oil leaks. I spent time last night reading the posts I could find, here and TOL. I found no definitive opinions on this subject.
I have a complete gasket set from Big D which includes the original fire-ring gasket. I also have a used copper head gasket. Assuming that the liners still sit proud of the gasket surface, which head gasket would be better?
From my experience with my last Trident, the push rod tubes didn't leak until I used a copper head gasket. However, I knew nothing about checking squish at the time.
I use Indian Head gasket cement and I always retorque after the first short ride.
