apart, emblams are off tank and ownership was stolen.
I was told it might be a lightening. It does have
single gage speedometer max 150 m.p.h., 100 % crome
gas tank, no paint. Rest of bike is painted black.
Do you know what kind of bike I have? I need a manual
to rebuild and I'm sure more parts. Please e-mail

- Sunday, May 21, 2000 at 04:57:44 (MET DST)I have just purchased my first BSA. I am not quite sure of what I have. The motor serial number BDxxxxB44VS suggests that it is a 441 victor special whose motor was made Feb. 1970. Its appearance is that of a Triumph Trophy Trail. There are parts of plastic fenders on the bike. The front one has 2 k's inside of a circle on the bottom rear of the fender. It has no headlight. It does not appear to have ever had one. There is no battery. There does not seem to be a place for a battery. There is no horn, nor a place for a key for ingnition. There is a key for locking the forks. The Zenier diode is located on the front forks below where the head light usually goes. The fame appears to have been a cream color. The covers behind the motor appear to have been red. On the outside of the covers, the decals appear to read victor 250. The muffler comes up from the bottom of the bike, angles up at about 45 degrees and the outlet is above the rear wheel. There is a crome heat sheild on the muffler. Would you please be so kind to tell me what I have. Do I have a hodge pod bike? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It sure is rewarding to find so many people that also were hooked on the deep, throathy
roar, the blurred mirrors, and the vibrating extremities of this wonderful marque.Having

At about the age of 13 my new brother-in-law and his brother had English bikes a BSA
Lightning and a Triumph Bonneville. Both of them were beatiful machines; thats when I
started a latent desire for a classic bike....I'm looking for a Lightning and all I can
remeber about that Lightning is that it had a cool small fender mounted rear seat, chrome
fenders, rear fender was cut short with a reverse curve end and the tank was chrome sided
with a red hilighted black. I don't think it was any newer than a '68. I don't think
there's a Harley, Honda or BMW around that can match the classic style, geometry or sound
of these bikes. Truly old school. How can I find and what can I expect to pay for a clean
specimen of this vintage somewhere in the Southwest US? Thanks, Pat Sanchez, Carlsbad, CA.

I've had my Thunderbolt a little over a year--great bike, great web site. Got most of
the restoration done last year, but continuing this year--powder coating the frame,
re-chromed fender, etc. Somedays I just sit and look at it, it's so pretty. Not a member
of an owners club, but would like to be if there were one in Michigan. Keep up the great
work with the web site, especially the bulletin board.

I also have a Jap bike (1984 Yamaha Viagra). It's a much better machine, the brakes
work, the electrics are dependable, and I have to check the oil level by looking at the
glass window instead of seeing if oil is running on the floor. It is completely without
personality and character. In short, it's boring. On the other hand there is my piece of
England.
