The NEW 5th BSA edition DVD Manual!
You can order your BSA DVD Manual here and now.

Now everything is on one DVD, plus a lot more! In fact, that is why I had to go to a DVD. To add all the new material for this edition would have meant using 3 CDs, thereby adding to the cost. By using DVD format it all goes on one, and costs you less!

This new Edition has 22 new files. Covers some 1930’s models, the wartime SV, and almost all models from 1945 to 1973. There is a HUGE Service Sheet section! This is the “must have” collection for anyone who owns, maintains, restores, or just loves BSA motorcycles.

Meridan History

“Meridan Historical Summary 1972-1974”. This is a small booklet summarising the history of the process which began with the collapse of BSA/Triumph in 1972, formation of Norton Villiers Triumph, and the subsequent Meridan sit-in, up to 1974. It is an interesting snap-shot of the beginning of the downfall of the British Motorcycle Industry’s collapse in the 1980’s.

Franks_Photos

Hard to describe just what this is, but it is a collection of photographs and technical drawings covering a whole grab-bag of models. To start with, there are close-ups of Triumph Works triples, some historical snapshots of Thunderbird police bikes, a swag of “studio publicity” shots of what appear to be Les Harris’ model range, some close-ups of the Tina scooter, “streamliners” at Bonneville Salt Flats, “studio publicity” shots of several “bathtub-equipped” Triumphs (Tiger, 3TA, and T20), PLUS (and this is the prize amongst all this) studio publicity shots of almost the entire projected 1971 model range INCLUDING the 350cc Bandit. The shots of the Bandit alone are worth getting this CD. Because the shots of the Works triples and the Bandit would be of interest to BSA owners as well, this file is being included on the 4th Edition BSA CD AND on the 4th Edition Triumph CD, and following editions.

A7_Lube

Lubrication Chart for A7 Twins, detached from an Instruction Manual I have not got at time of scanning

A-10 Notes

My thanks to Steve Talbot who supplied this. The “original” was six pages of type written notes on Improving the performance of the BSA A10 engine. Steve thinks they were written in the early sixties. Good stuff on tuning the A-10 for peak performance.

Service Sheets_A

Comprehensive Set of Service Sheets covering A, B, C, D, and M Series from 1948 to 1967. Almost 1,000 pages!!!

Service Sheets Misc

Very small collection of Sheets not covered elsewhere, at present covering late model A50 & A65 Lubrication

Data 1963

Data Summary Booklet for all 1963 models, giving a wealth of Service Data, measurements, and specifications. This booklet was usually only made available for dealers. A MUST for the restorer.

Unit Singles Engine Overhaul Manual.

I suspect this is quite rare ~ an “internal” factory booklet produced for “non-public” mechanics to perform rebuilds of the 1968-1969 250cc unit singles, in a step-by-step format (but also very relevant to 441cc and 500cc models too). For those of you who have these unit singles, this one book may be worth the whole cost of the CD.

1972_Spares

This is a complete BSA-Triumph Spare Parts List for all 1972 models, with prices. The prices aren’t valid anymore of course, but the parts numbers and descriptions may well be of use.

BSA_2_Tri_Parts

This is a set of computer printouts, issued to dealers and or factory I suspect, giving conversions from BSA to Triumph, and Tri to BSA, Spare parts. Late 1960’s-early 1970’s? undated. Useful to someone!

A65 1971 Case Study

This is an in-depth look at Don Danmeier’s 1971 OIF Lightning, a bike which may be one of the most-widely travelled BSA’s in the world. Details all his mods to make the machine a reliable long-distance “rider”, plus lots of colour photos.

Power Units

This is a combination of all the Service Sheets for the 120, 220, 320, and 420 cc BSA Power Units (stationary engines).

Wall Chart MC16M

Odd Bits

A collection of copies of photocopies of articles from 1960’s and 1970’s bike magazines, giving useful hints on tuning and rebuilding the old A and B Series machines, plus the “new” A50 and A65 . The photos of the mechanics evokes (in me, anyway) memories of the ‘50’s, Brylcreem, Teddy Boys, Bodgies and Widgies, flat tops, and Mike Sarne’s classic “British Bike” song “Just For Kicks”. Aussie and UK readers will know all about this, our trans-Atlantic cousins may not quite be able to capture the ambience.

1970 Service Tools

Illustrated catalogue of all the BSA Service Tools as of 1970

NEW

001-72

A complete reference source for technical data for all models of BSA produced in 1972. Cover is marked “private and confidential”, but why BSA would have wanted to hide this little gem is beyond me.

Tyre Care

A booklet published in the interests of Tyre Maintenance, publication 06-3094 by Norton Triumph, est 1972

Quaife 5 Speed

Fitting instructions for Quaife 5-speed cluster, for 650 Bonne, Trident, & Rocket 3

Motor Cycle Lubrication

This is a booklet produced by CASTROL in 1954, reprinted here in its 1959 Edition.. The booklet explains with words and diagrams how various types of motorcycle lubrication systems work (including plunger and gear-type oil pumps), in addition to showcasing the benefits of Castrol Oil (up to 1959, anyway).

SET UP INSTRUCTIONS

If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader(tm) already installed on your computer, simply start the Acrobat program, ensure this DVD is in your DVD tray, use your File explorer to change to the drive your DVD is in (eg. D:/) and open any of the PDF files located in the various folders.

IF YOU ARE NOT RUNNING WINDOWS 95/98 or later on your PC, but are still using Windows 3.x or an APPLE, you will need to obtain the appropriate ACROBAT READER software from ADOBE.COM.

Once Acrobat Reader(tm) is installed and you open the PDF files, you will have sufficient information at your fingertips to handle even the most ambitious restoration project, or just look up the correct settings for a tune-up. If you have a printer attached to your computer, you can print out the pages you need in the workshop, use them and get them dirty, and simply throw them away afterwards ~ you will still have the "original" on the CD, which won't get dirty like a "paper" manual costing many, many pounds or dollars.

If you have any printer problems, 1st make sure you have the latest drivers installed. Also try "printing as image", this usually solves any problems.

DISCLAIMER*DISCLAIMER*DISCLAIMER*DISCLAIMER*DISCLAIMER*DISCLAIMER*

* The manuals in this DVD cover several variations of models over a number of years, and it is the user's responsibility to ensure that he/she uses the most appropriate manual/parts list for his/her particular motorcycle during any restoration work and/or mechanical repairs/servicing. We cannot be held responsible for any consequences of misuse of information presented in these publications. Also remember that the bike you have MAY have been fitted with parts other than those it left the factory with!! USE EXTREME CARE!
